COBB Accessport for Porsche 718 Cayman - Boxster
2) Send us a PO for the AP3-POR-010 with shipping address for ECU Box/AP. We generally recommend this address be the location where the vehicle is going to have the ECU removed as it will expedite the re-installation process
3) We process your PO and ship the ECU box within a box to your provided address via UPS Express Saver (2 business days to almost any address). The cost for this shipment will be charged to you. This box contains a second box inside of it with specially designed foam and an anti-static bag for the ECU. Using the second box and the anti-static bag, you (or the customer/shop) package up the ECU and ship it back to our Austin location. We cannot provide a return shipping label for international shipments so the return shipping costs will need to be paid by the customer. Shipping method is up to them as is shipping speed.
4) The ECU is received by us and we unlock it the same business day. We then ship the unlocked ECU and the new Accessport back to the same address as before via UPS Express Saver. This shipment is FREE as we essentially split the shipping costs with you by paying for one of the shipments ourselves. At this point we invoice you/charge out your account for the final cost of the AP + shipping costs.
5) The ECU and AP are received back to the original shipping address in 2 business days and the ECU is reinstalled in the car. The AP then needs to be installed in the car as per the standard procedure (battery charger, OBDII port, etc).
From there, the AP will function the exact same as any other AP with the ability to change maps, logs, uninstall etc.
COBB Tuning, known by the tagline “Access The Potential” is an American company providing aftermarket automobile tuning services. Founded in 1999 by Trey Cobb at Rockwall, they are now headquartered at Austin, Texas. COBB focus on European brands such as BMW, Porsche and VW, also Japanese manufacturers such as Mazda, Mitsubishi and Nissan. They are specialized in modifying mechanical components like turbo kits, exhaust system and suspension to electronic parts and ECU management.
COBB hit the market strong using one of the first hand held units (Accessport) to access the cars performance potential. AccessPORT, a handheld ECU programming device which connected to OBD-II port on cars, launched in 2004 is their most popular product because it is the first one to crack Nissan GT-R’s ECU code that was said as “untuneable”. They also develop a software for engine tuning, AccessTUNER which is available in two variants: Race and Pro. The Pro version is available only to COBB approved shops and tuners.
